Why am I being prompted to change my character’s name when I Home World Transfer?

If a character with the same name exists on the same Home World you have applied to transfer to, you will be prompted to change their name when logging in for the first time after the transfer is complete. Please follow the instructions on screen to do so.

A message informing you that your character's name needs to be changed will also be displayed at the time you apply for the Home World Transfer Service.

 

The same procedure applies if the character you transfer has a retainer with a name that already exists on the destination Home World. You will be prompted to change the retainer's name when logging in for the first time after the transfer is complete.

However, please note that you cannot check whether or not your retainer's name needs to be changed prior to the transfer.
