The "Application Failed to Initialize" error message
The "Application Failed to Initialize" error message is usually caused by 1 of 2 issues. The most common cause is the video card. The use of any of the integrated Intel graphics chips, such as the Intel 82845G, 82865G, 82915G, etc. is not supported. The Intel video chips do not support Hardware Transform and Lighting (TnL), which Imperial Glory does require to run. However, there was a patch released for Imperial Glory that should fix this problem as long as your video card meets the games requirement of 64MB of video ram.
