[Definition of "MPK"]
MPK (Monster Player Killing) is defined as an action taken by a player or players who purposely cause monsters to attack or incapacitate other players. This interferes with other people's gameplay and is strictly forbidden, according to the PlayOnline Guidelines. An action may be construed as harassment in nature, even if a monster does not directly attack, if the monster takes action that impedes another player's gameplay.
The use of monsters with the sole purpose to steal monsters or drops from other players who are fighting a certain monster is also forbidden. Rights to a monster belong to the player or group fighting that monster. Any acts designed to gain rights forcibly from other player(s) are not permitted. However, if a player or group is defeated, or loses right through their own actions, this does not apply.
[How GMs handle MPK issues]
A GM who confirms MPK in action can take the following actions:
-Confiscation of dropped items
In the event that a GM determines that a player obtained dropped items or gill through MPK actions, those items or gill may be confiscated from the player.
-Punishment
Players that have been determined to have committed MPK may be temporarily suspended from PlayOnline by a GM. During this time, a player will be unable to access not only FINAL FANTASY XI, but all PlayOnline functions. If the MPK action was carried out by a group, then all participants will receive punishment as well.
