How can I prevent an account from becoming compromised?

The following are preventative measures to safeguard user account information from malicious third parties:

- Do not disclose the PlayOnline ID or password to any 3rd party
- Be sure to log in using the "Guest Login" if you are logging into PlayOnline from an internet café or from a friend's house. Do not save the account information
- If you are using a PC version, be sure to check that your Windows software is up to date and perform virus scans periodically to keep your system security high
- Do not click on any suspicious links. Also do not use any third party software that may affect the PlayOnline Viewer or FINAL FANTASY XI service
- Make sure that your password does not contain words that are easy to figure out and change them periodically
- Use the software keyboard to enter the PlayOnline Password or PlayOnline Password
- Activate the "Security Settings" shown on the login top menu (Available in Windows only)
- Use a SQUARE ENIX Security Token linked to a SQUARE ENIX ID
